Welcome!

So far we have looked at two approaches, Discovery (Samuel Eliot Morison) and Conquest (AIM). A third is Columbian Exchange: Bilogical and Cultural Consequences of 1492. by Alfred W. Crosby. Which do you think is the most valid?

Well, after reading all the approaches, I think the "Columbus exchange" is probably the most vaild. My reason is because it seems the most neutral, not so much debating about Columbus himself, and his approche to the Native Americans and stating that Columbus was the one tough guy who discover the "new world". "Columbus exchange" showed to me more "logical" facts.

I want to add on what I have said earlier. I think each approache have its reasonings and I changed my mind after the class discussion. I partially agree with all the three apporache and they're valid in varies way. From the "Discovery", I don't agree with Morison that Columbus "discoverd" the "new world". But I do think it was important for Columbus to have showed up in in north America because of him, we're here.
I think Columbus could have taken a different apporahe torwards the Natives and not by enslaving, and killing.

I believe that the colombus exchange is probably a little more effective than the other two reasons. This is because the topic of how Columbus was a big contributer to the columbus exchange it makes him look like a good person while the other two topics make him look evil. After reading about his contributes with the columbus exchange i think there might be two sides of Columbus.

Tianna Sykes
Hour 8

From reading the 3 documents, I have come to the conclusion that the article on the Columbian Exchange is most valid. I believe this because the other two articles speak from opinion based on facts. This article tells only of truth. They in a way, have no "feeling" presented in the article. though that may seem a negative thing, it is not. The validity of this document is much higher than the other, which makes me favor it. I agree with the perspective of the American Indian Movement. I have always thought, and after reading this article, shall continue to think, that Columbus' expedition has been built up as only a positive influence for the Americas. There are always 2 sides to a story, and I choose to agree with that of the AIM.

I agree with Tianna. The Coloumbus Exchange doesn't hold any opinions and only truth, not saying the "conquest" isn't true because I think it is and that was a terrible thing Columbus did.

After reading all of the approches i think discovery. i like it because it tells about his backround and is well typed. even though i think christopher columbus is a A**hole. the reason why i said that is because the whole starting slavery thing in conquest.
